Just another chinese badly documented gadget. They mention some cool functionalities but they're not exactly what you would expect.
The user manual is everything but clear. So forget about efficient mapping. It is mentioned as a feature, you can see it in the menus, but how to make it work is a mistery (if it works at all).
But they do have profiles and it does work with usb power...
It’s a specific utility unit but it has a lot of ways to use it.
My primary function was to integrate classic midi modules (5pin) to these newer usb-c midi sockets. So in my example it was Line 6 HX Effects and UAFX Lion ‘68 and Del-Verb. Configurable and flexible, works like a dream and is powered by my powerblock on my pedal board.
My second one connects my traditional stage piano classic midi to a usb-c hub, connecting new synth modules into the set. Running multiple midi channels on different modules for notes, PC and CC.
I’m sure it can do more but I haven’t had much time to play around with other custom stuff yet. Very happy with them, for the use cases I have.
It only took me a quick read of the official manual to realize the actual flexibility of this midi interface. The built in translator, re-router, amongst many other features turned it into the midi gear I didn't know I needed
