The Daddario Mute sensor is fantastic. it is so useful for musicians and performers who use a microphone in a live environment who want to cut out unnecessary bleed from the stage. A simple to use adapter that plugs onto the end of your microphone and has a light system showing you when the mic is muted or not.
I use loop pedals and this is a great reason to have a mic mute either for my main mic going into the looper, or if you have a dedicated looping mic.
It does require 48v phantom power to work (no batteries needed which is nice) and don't worry.. that 48v phantom doesn't go into the dynamic.
The dial on the top is to set the distance of how far away from the mic the cut off should be. This is something that is trial and error by more than one go as I was finding it would cut off depending on where I was in relation to the microphone. but once you have the distance how you like, you just need t remember that and your all set.
A Must for ANY live performer and a great gift for the vocal performer who has it all.
I'm used to use the competition, I have several original optogate units that reduces the sound with -18db. That's great for in ears. So the difference in ambience level isn't drasticly changing every time the gate opens up. This one Mutes.
In a way I like that you can change the treshhold (distance) setting without a screwdriver like the competition, however there should be a lock.
Build quality is great.
Wil i buy this again? yes
Is it replacing the original optogate (-18db)? No it's not, i don't like it for in ears and i don't like the fact that musician can chang the settings.
However wil use these for shout microphones for engineers and MD instead of switched mic's.
