I'm new to sax-playing, so this is not a professional opinion: I watched several reviews of different reeds before going for the Jazz Select reeds. After a few months of being satisfied with the alto reeds, I went straight to Jazz Select for my newly acquired tenor sax. And it was no different: warm and dark sound that is definitely louder than other all-rounders that are meant to be played in classical or pop settings. The reeds in the box are of nice quality, meaning out of five reeds in this box, only one is a bit less responsive or harsh OUT OF THE BOX.
I think these are probably among the best natural reeds I've played. They are surprisingly consistent - all 5 in a box are pretty much the same. They are durable, responsive and sound good.
I tend to have a slight preference for the filed version - I can't detect any real difference in sound or responsiveness from these unfiled ones but the filed reeds are easier to place exactly on the mouthpiece - the line of the filing can be used for purchase/grip with the finger nail to adjust position.
Obviously the fact that they are organically grown and have no plastic packaging is a major positive thing.
