I have 2 x 9u 84hp cases, each has a psu3 in it. They are very stable and more than anything else protect you from reverse polarity accidents. I have made that mistake several times and each time all the lights on the other other modules flash at about once a second, telling you have got the cable the wrong way round. I have experienced no damage to any module when this has happened. Each case has around 20 modules in it and there is plenty of reserve current for current hungry modules. It also has a built in 5volt supply which is very handy for the occasional module that needs 5volts. I have had the psu for over 3 years now, with daily use. Highly recommended.
I've replaced a PSU2 with this unit and its a huge difference in weight and stability. Also quite simple to mount it back on the case and the instructions are available on the page product. Thanks!
I changed my janky power setup on my modular rig for this a few months back for a Doepfer PSU and rails, and it's probably the best investment I did for it! I had so many weird problems with many modules plus a problematic noise floor that I blamed on the individual modules.... but no! This was it! Just bad power. Swapping for this took care of literally every problem I had with my system.
I have four of those in a custom-built rack, powering over 32 modules, some of which quite power-hungry. The power supplies have been very reliable. No noise issues, no unexpected behaviour. They look well built and well designed.
As I've added more digital modules to my cases I needed to up the capacity from the 'old' Doepfer supply to the new more powerful one here. Installation was a breeze and they work perfectly. Yes, there are more powerful ones available by other manufacturers but my Doepfer ones never let me down, so I stuck with the brand. Got to love Doepfer :)
I have purchased 4 of these for a very large modular rack. These were simple to install and provide much more power than previous generation Doepfer PSUs. Especially useful now is native +5v connectors.
