I am using A-138n with my medium sized modular setup. So far I did not use any mixer which felt very limiting to me.
Pros first. It is very neat little module. With only 4hp it takes very little space which is absolutely nice. Knobs and patchpoints feel very solid. It also has tons of gain. One can find a lot of creative potential with not one, but two mix outputs.
What is most important to me - it works nicely with both audio and cv signals. That makes A-138n super versatile option especially for people with small or medium-sized setup.
On the cons side - it has too little space between the knobs. Or maybe I have too big fingers :). Anyway, it is quite rational if you need a module with such a compact size.
I am very satisfied with A-138n. It is an exellent price-quality ratio product. Highly recommended!
No fuss module that mixes your audio (and cv if you like, but I use for audio only). Small footprint, just 4hp, I have one A-138n for every set of voices in my rack, so I have 3, and if I add another set of voices, I'll buy another one of these.
I bought this to be able to mix 3 oscillators in my modular rack. It works great but the sound is dull (it takes away some high frequencies) and it distorts easily.
The 2 separate outputs are a nice extra. The build quality is great, the pots have enough resistance and a smooth action, the mini jack connectors are sturdy.
Another observation is that the pots are too close to each other and it’s a bit difficult to turn them in one move. There’s enough space on the module so they could have placed them a bit further apart from each other.
