Ferrofish Pulse8 AE

Ran out of I/O on my interface, after getting on the 500 series train. I was tempted to get a new interface with more analog I/O ports,.but the cost was too prohibitive.

I decided to explore other options. The Pulse8 Æ had recently been released. It seemed like a perfect fit for my setup, it got great reviews from sources I trust, and was only a third of the cost of upgrading my interface.

This unit does a fantastic job. Converters are transparent. Meters are responsive and easy to read. Settings menu is intuitive and well thought out.

I'm using it in conjunction with a Motu 828 (2024 rev.) Word clock via BNC.
I have no issues, this unit is a keeper.

Fantastic unit for the money, the conversion is clean and stacks up to higher end units, and very very feature packed for the price. The second set of ADAT IO can be rather useful as well for sending the same signals to a separate unit & other uses thanks to the powerful routing matrix. I've a Neumann MT48 and that's been shot out against high end stuff like the RME ADI-2 Pro FS R, Apollo X16, as well as compared against a large online sample of other higher end converters on the same material, and the MT48 is still the best unit I've personally used. The Pulse 8 AE stacks up close to it with some minuscule loss of definition but a beefier low end. I don't think anything comes close for the price!
