I played the guitar for about a year some 25 years ago. Since I took delivery of my Harley Benton I've been practising slavishly and I am loving it. Previously I had a posh Hanika guitar, which I'd bought cheaply because it had a bent body which meant the strings were way too high. A guitar maker assured me it was not really fixable, so that's my bench mark. Compared to the beautiful (but fatally flawed) Hanika the Harley Benton does not have as full and mellow a sound but it's bright and clear, it projects well and it is much easier to play. My only gripe is that the e-string is buzzy, so I'll try and do some tweaking and see where that takes me. I love the solid spruce top. Whilst I am not an instrument maker I work with wood professionally and this feels like a well built guitar. It has a good sound at an affordable price and to be honest, I think that I'll have to get a heck of a lot better before I deserve an upgrade.
I love the Thomann music course which came as a surprise bonus with the guitar. They are really well structured online lessons with downloadable sheets so I can practice away from the screen too. Once I get my e-string sorted I'll be 100% satisfied with this purchase.
