My first cowbell for years! I recently decided to add a cowbell to my kit set-up after around 25 years since the last time I used one. I noted that this model was used by Stanton Moore along with others and took the plunge and bought one. It has a fantastic array of sounds. Played on the body with the tip of a drumstick you can coax a variety of sounds out of it (all of them funky!) and then when you lay into the front edge with the taper of your stick you get the classic donk sound, but this baby is a big cowbell so has a beautiful deep tone. Some cowbells are way to bright but this is just perfect (for what I was looking for) I have placed a piece of moongel inside to dampen the overtones as I was after a real dry articulate bell. This is really only necessary if you're going for that dry funk articulation. It doesn't rob the cowbell of it's tone either. The first time I used it during a rehearsal, everyone smiled. It has that effect. Not in your face just a groovy, funky addition to your set up. Highly recommended and you won't find it cheaper than with the Thomann dudes!! Steve.
I bought this cowbell because I needed it to play some Cumbia influenced gigs. After searching for some time I founded the Downtown Cowbell from LP. It sounds amazing, with a very low pitch. This cowbell was recommended for me by Wilfredo Hernandez, an amazing Cuban professional percussionist.
