I use this pedal for noise reduction, when guitar is on stand by.
Pros:
* solid build quality.
* effect loop, allows to not include delay, reverb pedals out of the noise gate loop.
* clear instruction manual for proper setup
* decent prices (comparing to Decimator)
Cons:
* limited noise reduction - I would't use it for really high gain scenarios. Was trying to use on JVM410H, on high gain channels and some noise would still go through. Decimator does better on high gain applications.
I was looking for a simple, durable and reliable noise gate pedal and this one's done the job well! I needed to cut out the feedback and static "hissing" noise of my amp (because of the moderately high gain-settings). For example, when I stop playing all I have to do is to damp out the strings and the M195 kicks in; no more "hissing", feedback etc. You could do that also by changing to a clean channel, but that means more footwork = no thanks.
I am disappointed by this pedal as the noise reduction takes a rather long time to come in effect: even a couple of seconds. Besides, the (only) control (for noise threshold) seems to have little or no effect on the pedal behavior. TO note: I have it properly connected (distortion unit in the send-return loop, and delay after this noise clamp) and the other two units in the chain are MXR (Carbon Copy and '78 Badass). I will try out more fiddling with the settings but I cannot see how to make it work as I expect.
I've been using that pedal for several years and even played in big concert places (over 1500 people).
It does the job perfectly and even helped a lot when I got a terrible feedback in my guitar.
Would definitely recommend it
