Roland JC-22

Just received my j-22 today, so these are my immidiate impressions.
Have only tried it out with my telecaster and in terms of tone, headroom, dynamics, it's seriously good! Highly usable, very inspiring. You can really dig into it and it can be quite loud if you need it to. I prefer to push the (fantastic) reverb and perhaps just dial in a tiny splash of chorus. Bought it for that signature clean, not the chorus effect - fun to play around with though ; to add some colour to the sound, some airyness / width. I'll be using it at home for writing and recording. I have no doubt that you could gig with it though! It really has a full, loud voice - and does not get muddy when you crank it.
The only things bothering me: the infamous hiss of this line of amps is not too bad, but its there. And when playing it with my tele, just touching the strings gives a slight static "umf". This COULD be the guitar though.. or me being used to a small digital amp. All in all, its really a great amp for anyone who values a great clean tone. Highly recommended.

After almost two years of use: Still really loving this amp! It has proven to be an almost perfect clean platform for all my guitars, including Telecaster, Sheraton ii, Les Paul Jr. and a Firebird. All guitars sound true to their specific character through this amp, articulate and uncoloured. The same thing goes when using several pedals through the frontpanel input. Its honestly hard to find something noticable that I really dislike about this little amp.. No regrets!

JEG ELSKER DEN! Har haft planer om at få fat i den længe. Den er lille, og høj! Uendelig headroom, og repræsenterer dine pedaler rigtig godt. En perfekt tilføjelse til din rør-amp, OG den er en rigtig god monitor hvis du har en Line 6 HX Stomp eller andet digitalt guitargear, så du har din egen lydkilde istedet for PA. Virkelig alsidig og fed. Chorus effekten er lækker, og stereo indgange gør at du kan bruge den med alle dine stereo pedaler. Pga. den er transistor kan treblen godt være en tand for meget. Men det kan justeres, og i band sammenhæng er det faktisk rigtig godt, at man har lidt ekstra treble at give af, samt en bright switch, som er rigtig brugbar i live sammenhænge. Jeg kunne godt finde på at købe en mere, for en ultimativ WET/DRY setup med en rør-amp som dry amp, og to JC-22' amps som wet amps <3

Jeg må være helt ærlig. Jeg ELSKER denne her forstærker! Jeg spiller primært ambient, post-rock og havde brug for en forstærker der har en god clean lyd. Denne her er FANTASTISK! Den indbyggede reverb efterlader ikke meget at ønske og den indbyggede chorus er virkelig prikken over i'et. Forstærkeren er nem at indstille, især med sin bright knap, som jeg altid slår til, når jeg bruger en guitar med lidt mørkere lyd. Den kan spille utroligt højt på trods af sin størrelse (den kan nemt spille højt nok til at larme over trommer).

I am mainly a jazz player. For several years I have been using either a Peavey Classic 30 for larger gigs and an AER Compact 60 for smaller gigs. the latter for reasons of portability. I was never that happy with the sound of either although the Peavey was good for the occasional rock/function gig and the AER was good for electro-acoustic guitar or vocals. Neither worked particularly well for semi-acoustic guitar. I recently bought a Roland JC-40 which sounds excellent but is generally too big for jazz gigs in terms of portability, headroom and appearance on the bandstand. I bought the JC-22 a few weeks ago and have used it on a handful of jazz gigs, some of which were quite loud and some of which were much quieter. It has performed extremely well in every situation so far. It has a very clear sound with plenty of projection. It is very portable and looks perfect onstage with a jazz combo. It outstrips my other amps (including previously owned amps such as a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and a Fender Blues Junior) by a significant margin. I would recommend this amp very highly indeed.
