For a very long time I was anoyed by my snare getting out of tune all the time. Many times along the gig I had to tighten the screws because I play rim shot all the time. And loud. These really work, and the screws stay in tune. A little sad sidenote that changing drum head gets a bit slower, because you can't unscrew loosen screws with your fingers anymore. So maybe a drillbit or a speed key to accomodate that? Good product still.
A bit weird to install, on older kits you can break the lug if you are not careful, but after installing a few, you will understand the mechanics behind it. I am using it on every snare I own, plus tested them on an old Premier kit (only on floor toms thou). Perfect for lower tuning, even better for snares. Holds tuning very well, but changing a head becomes a lot more work. But worth it! Highly recommended!
I used some of these on a 1975 Sonor Phonic Ferromanganese steel snare drum that detuned very quickly when rimshotting, as well as a 1980s Sonorlite beast of a snare that just detuned slowly. They're pretty stiff compared to other methods and can make aligning tension rods a little tricky, but they do a good job and my drums stay in tune!
I haven't found too many tom and snare drums, aside from those manufactured by Sonor, that these things fit on. But I use them on kick drums and they work very well. Since the kick is notorious for detuning these come in quite helpful.
