Bought this to fit on the back on my live rack powering an Axe fx, four wireless units and an interface and I've never had any issues with the ground or failing to supply power to any of my rack items.
I'm glad I ordered this from Thomann as most I found was only 5-6 plug sockets.
I bought this item for a portable PA rack I built.
Pros:
It is solidly made with a nice thick power cord. The metal mounting flanges are nice and sturdy. Each flange has three mounting holes, allowing a single bolt to be used at each side if desired. In my application, this was very convenient as I was mounting the item inside a rack case and it saved two screws. The unit is also very good value for money.
cons:
The power cord comes out of the side of the unit behind one of the mounting flanges. I found I had to bend it at quite a sharp radius to mount the unit. In my opinion it would have been better coming out of the rear of the unit. I personally don't like that it has a power switch, as this increases the number of things to check if the rack has no power. I appreciate that some people would use it as the main rack on/off switch however, so I have not marked it down for this.
Does the job it needs - useful to add power to a rack that's still accessible when mounted. The cable is a good length, but very stiff - would prefer a more flexible alternative. The quality of the plastic used in the unit isn't amazing either, but it wasn't expensive. The sockets require a lot of force to plug and unplug, which is good because it means they won't come out easily but also a bit frustrating at times.
This is probably the biggest time saver in my live rack!
The housing is made out of plastic, but it seems pretty thick so can't see that being an issue.
Only real complaint is that the power cable itself doesn't fit into the rack very well once you've mounted it, although this is more likely due to the small budget rack I'm currently using.
Would be nice to have this powered by a removable kettle lead but at this price it is hard to complain.
