I spent a long time searching for a real tube amp that I could actually use in an apartment. I’m very conscious about loudness and I knew I needed something that would sound good even at lower volumes. I couldn’t try anything in person, so it was a tough decision to make.
Over the years, I had a few different amps. I had a PRS Sonzera 20, which I absolutely loved for its tone, but it was way too loud for home use. I also tried different digital amps, but even though they were practical, none of them ever really resonated with me. They always felt a bit flat or uninspiring compared to real tubes.
I play a PRS Hollowbody II Piezo, and finding the right match was important to me. The Gremlin turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. The sound is warm and rich, but still clear and dynamic. It feels alive under your fingers. The built-in Ironman attenuator is an essential feature—it allows me to actually use the amp properly at home, getting beautiful tones without disturbing anyone. The lead channel is fantastic too; it gives you that great saturated tone without needing crazy volume levels.
Honestly, it feels like this might be the last amp I'll ever buy for home use. It makes me want to pick up the guitar and play more, and I don't feel like I'm missing anything. I would really recommend it to anyone who, like me, just wants to have the best possible sound at home without fighting with volume or feeling like you're missing out on the real tube experience. P.S. tweed finish is awesome looks a bit more mustard in real life.
