I Honestly cannot understand why people praise Yellowtec so much.
In the description it states that it can extend to 107 cm and that it an support microphones up to 1,5 kg. I use it with an sm7 the weights 800g and after tightening both the resistance and the articulation bolts all the way and even more it will sag after 75 or 85cm of extension.
Reading the manual closely it states that "extreme positions need more tightening" well, 80cm extension is not extreme and I already maxed out the tightening that is possible.
I am thoroughly disappointed because the total for an arm and the wall mount was 500€ and it wont perform as advertised.
The only reason i am keeping it is because it is the only stand offering a wall mount option.
Very sturdy, looks smart, and takes weight of heavy mic. In use in 24/7 studios. Able to balance the anglepoise so it sits better in position.
We used the through desk mount adapter. There is a sleeve on the pin of the arm that can sometimes get lost, but replacements are available.
It had been 12 years since my initial studio installation and my old microphone arm was ired and squeaky. This new Yellowtec MiKA Microphone Arm is amazingly lightweight, strong and flexible. It looks great and gives me plenty of angle options on My Neumann TLM 49 which it carries without a bother. Highly recommended.
Just a shame this is not cheaper as the quality is great, but hard to justify price. Only installed for very high end clients where the best is only good enough.
