This mouthpiece gives the cornet its true voice. Not trumpet-like, not like a flugelhorn but full and sweet with some brightness. A very agile mouthpiece with an easy response. The rim size feels reasonably familiar to a Bach 1.25 player or Wick 3 user. I think it is fabulous in every way…apart from the taper which does not fit modern instruments!!! It is a good fit in the older instruments with shanks, otherwise a little tape is needed to ensure a good fit. It would seem to be a copy of one of Arban’s mouthpieces, but is quite different externally to any he was photographed with. Some clarification of its exact origin from the makers would be welcome.
My colleague recommended getting this mouthpiece and I am very glad I did! Previously I only had mouthpieces that were either very deep and flughorn-sounding or too flat and too similar to trumpet. This one seems to nail the balance and give the cornet a very elegant and refined sound. Also very good for playing the virtuoso repertoire because of the immediate response. For me the rim feels a bit thin, I might that it customized one day. But that is very individual and all-in-all I am super happy with the mouthpiece, 5 stars!
