- The design of the drumshells in VLT (vertical grain) puts less tension on the shell, yet still allowing for free vibration that is reflected in a lower-tunable and full sound
- The X-shell design of the floor tom and bass drum produces an impressively full sound and fundamental, grounded low-pitched tones
- The sound produced by the maple is characterised by its soft, warm, balanced resonance yet with a clear and controlled stick attack
- All drum shells are put together with the aid of a "timbre matched" procedure, meaning that the fundamental tone of each drum shell is analysed and each element then subsequently combined to form a tonally matched set.
