Best strings for my Yamaha 000 guitars
I’ve tested these string up against Elixir Nanoweb Phosphor Bronze (.011 and .012) and 80/20 (.012), Martin Lifespan 2.0, D’addario XS (.012) and Harley Benton coated phosphor bronze (.012). The guitars I used for testing were my Yamaha LS6 ARE (Engelmann spruce) and FS-TA (mahogany).
The strings exhibit less harsh high notes on the B and E strings than 80/20’s, while being less muddy on the A, D, G strings than phosphor bronze. Note separation is superior on these Attune strings for finger style play, while still providing a coherent sound when strumming.
That’s quite something - and they last about as long as Elixir Nanowebs.
Attune are less slick than Nanoweb and provide a bit more sting noise. Not as much as Martin Lifespan 2.0 (retro), which are the most grippy coated strings I’ve tried, closely followed by Harley Benton.
For me, they Attune strike a perfect balance - so they’re now my main strings and my golden standard.
