Brilliant kit

Really easy to install, clear instructions and sounds great, really fills out the sound and pushes a valve amp to saturation.

Very musical boost

I've had active mid boosts on guitars before. Old charvel ones were great in the 80s. In the end I decided it wasn't worth fitting batteries just for a boost, but figured as my emg pickups had a battery anyway, it was worth another try.
I fitted this to a pickguard that was 66% the lukather set, 85 and Slv but added a more Gilmour SA to the neck, and this boost.
All I can say is wow ! The boost is mids, but just the right frequencies to be really useful both with the single coils and 85. Fattens them up nicely in a mix without getting at all muddy. Adds a little volume too.
Makes an HSS guitar very useable for all styles, not just solo boosting.

Not sure it was worth it tbh

Arrived promptly as always from Thomann. Installed yesterday with a set of EMG SA's, easy enough to install and use.

I'm yet to use it in a loud gig or rehearsal situation but so far I'm a bit "meh". It did what it said it would, boosts the mid range, but tbh I find the lack of bottom and top end when on full a little too much and borderline unusable (for my uses anyway). If you keep it between 1 and 5 then it's ok and could be useful for a bit of extra drive on solo's, or to fatten up the sound a bit. Above that and you lose any clarity in your sound and it just gets swamped with mids.

My idea of Presence is associated with the Presence knob on an amp which to my ear gives more clarity, don't expect that with this product, quite the opposite in fact. If that's your want then maybe try the EXG or RPC pots...? I may look at these next.

All in all I don't think I'd buy it again, but that's just my opinion.

Fantastic Mid Boost

Super versatile tool if you're a gigging musician using a SSS strat and you want the flexibility of playing 80s rock on the bridge pickup without investing in a full on distortion pedal. Also pairs amazingly with overdrives(klon, bd-2, ts9 etc.) for solos.
