Bang - and poetry - for the buck!

This guitar is not a Gibson. This guitar is a homage to a specific vintage of Gibson's Hummingbird. I've had Masterbilt Epiphones form Indonesia, in their own right solid and honest guitars. Upon retrieving the HB from it - glorious - HSC, I immediatly noticed a much reduced weight compared to my MB Texans. It is simply much ligher built, braces scalloped, all body woods a lighter gauge of timber. This translates into a more sonorous instrument, indeed one that I find hard to put down. The tone is soft, yet with authority and bottom when digging in. There is this sense of delicacy in the top end whether strumming or fingerpicking that is very endearing. The Baggs VTC unit actually sounds surprisngly good when plugged directly into my audio interface, a UA Volt 260. The neck is hefty, but comfortable, albeit maybe not for the faint of heart. I find it very playable and I'm sure it adds to the whole resonant nature of this guitar. I'm happy and would certainly recommend the 1960 HB.
