Squier Mini Strat V2 BK IL

First of all, I'm a huge fan of hardtail fender style guitars, especially strats, mustangs and jags. It is not easy to find a hardail strat cause 99% of them are loaded with tremolo. Some time ago I had a bullet mustang, and found some interesting things happening with shorter scale guitars, so I decided to order a mini :)

First impression was - it is so easy to play!! You can bend full chords for 3-4 semi steps like nothing!! I was like OMG this is so playful. It originally came to me with 9s (string), and it was not set-up best, but i did not expect that for 130eur.

So I began with upgrades:

1. install a bone nut
2. install Schaller tuners
3. install high end pots + shielding
4. set up the guitar and put 10-46 string
(only pickups are still original, they will be gone soon for sure)

The end result is - I will never ever sell this guitar!

If you compare mini to a regular strat, it does sound darker and more muddy, but still very interesting warm sound, i suppose because of shorter scale and less tension in strings. Can't wait to put some real pickups in it. 10-46 strings are much more stable than nines, but I have a strong feeling that 11 will be a perfect fit for this little monster.

Overall, this is not a toy for kids, it is a serious guitar. You don't need to change all this parts, but I highly recommend to make a proper set-up at least and put some 10 or 11 gauge strings on it because 9's are super bendy but not very stable.

No matter if you are a beginner or pro, this little monster is 100% rock and roll machine gun, it screams and makes all kind of sounds uniquely, and it's super easy to play.

Bought for my son as a starter guitar and he absolutely loves it. Feels every bit as solid as my old Squier Affinity. As others have pointed out, the smaller size and low-grade stock tuners make this hard to keep in tune at standard E, and the strings jangle a bit when strummed hard due to the lower tension. I plan to upgrade to mini locking tuners and swap out the pickups for those in my Affinity, after which I’m confident that this will be a great instrument that will last my kiddo years until he’s ready for a full-size guitar.

J'ai acheté cette guitare pour mes enfants, ayant commencé à leur apprendre quelques bases et instruments. Etant guitariste à la base, j'ai surtout cherché le confort de jeu pour eux (7, 5 et 3 ans mais... vous vous doutez bien que ce dernier est un peu moins concerné). Ayant eu plusieurs productions Squier dans les mains, je considère que cela fait référence dans cette gamme de prix.

A la réception, l'instrument n'était pas réglé et le jeu de cordes pas adapté de mon point de vue. Le diapason court rend celles-ci trop souples pour un accordage standard, et si on peut imaginer que les fabricants ont prévu cela pour jouer en Fa, c'est objectivement pas pratique pour enseigner. De plus, la faible tension a tendance à faire vibrer un des pontets, bref, pas bon.

Mise en place d'un jeu de 10-46 et réglage de la guitare : parfaite ! Les cordes ne sont ni trop douces, ni trop dures pour les enfants, elles ne frisent plus et le sustain y gagne forcément.

Le manche est absolument parfait. La finition, la douceur, les frettes, je considère que d'avoir un tel confort sur un petit instrument à ce prix est une prouesse.

Je suis même agréablement surpris par les micros qui sont très honnêtes pour un instrument de ce prix. Il faut savoir que je change TOUJOURS les micros de mes guitares pour des versions haut de gamme voire boutique, je suis très très sensible sur ce point. Et bien ici, branchée - toute d'origine qu'elle est - dans plusieurs amplis à lampes, c'est très très convaincant et ne nécessite pas de remplacement urgent.

Pour l'instant la tenue de l'accordage n'est pas idéale, j'ai graissé légèrement le sillet mais il se peut qu'elle nécessite un remplacement de mécaniques à l'occasion.

Au final, la personne qui joue le plus avec c'est moi. A tel point que j'ai commandé une semaine plus tard une Squier Bullet pour ne pas trop la prendre à mes enfants et jouer avec des nouveaux micros... et avoir plus de place pour mes grosses paluches aussi.

Bref, après 16 ans de guitare et de nombreuses guitares de toutes les gammes, je suis surexcité à l'idée de voir une guitare pour enfants ou de voyage à une telle qualité à un tel prix. Elle n'est pas parfaite et nécessite cordes et réglages, mais je considère que tout guitariste devrait en avoir une, que ce soit pour la descendance, essayer un autre accordage, la glisser derrière le canapé pour trifouiller sur le pouce ou simplement parce que c'est trop mignon.

das Gerät (hab 2 bestellt) soll für meine 2 Neffen sein (5 und 3 Jahre), zuhaus hab ich noch 2 Fender Frontmans mit 10W, Transistor,
und 2 Digitech Multieffektchen (altes RP100 und neues RP55), die ich ihnen mit dazu gebe, plus Taschen, Gurte usw...
Nach langwierigen Einstellarbeiten:
- Hals nachziehen
- Bridge in die richtige Länge bringen, Höhe einstellen
- Stimmen, stimmen, stimmen

hab ich festgestellt, daß diese Squier viel Spaß macht und mit einem Effektgerät und einem kleinem Amp so gut Stratig klingt, daß es viel Freude macht, hier rum zu klimpern,

Ich hatte einige andere Gitarren mini Klampfen ausprobiert, konnte aber kaum zufrieden werden, einmal sind die Pickups zu dumpf, dann die Bespielbarkeit unmöglich usw.... das war harte Testarbeit

Die Fender Squier Strat MIni ist sehr schmal, leicht, liegt gut in der Hand und ist schon eine recht gute Strat Kopie, auch ein Gitarrenfreund war beeindruckt, was da schon rauskommt, schöne krispe Fender Sounds, auch in Gain Verzerrung, Crunch und klar macht diese Klampfe einen sehr durchsetzungsfähigen Strat Sound
krispe Höhen, leichte Bespielbarkeit am Hals, akzeptable Verarbeitung und eben MIni

Wer sich selber helfen kann, denn Einstellarbeiten sind bei diesen Mini Gitarren unbedingt vonnöten, der kann seine Kids glücklich machen, ich bin mal sehr gespannt auf die Reaktion... :-)

Wir beide Gitarrenspieler sind auf jeden Fall beeindruckt und wollen den Kids einen Einstieg, Motivation und Prägung bieten, was daraus werden kann, wenn man ihnen so was zur Verfügung stellt,
optisch sehr ansprechend...
