This guitar is simply amazing. It plays great. I usually prefer thicker necks like on the 50s standard Les Paul, but the slim taber feels just right on this guitar. Soundwise it is amazing. Neck pickup is smooth and deep sounding, while the bridge has really good punch. Middle position with the tone on the neck rolled a bit down is pure bliss.
For the downsides, the fretboard was Sahara levels of dry, which caused a small cosmetic chip on the 2nd fret. If I had oiled it before demoing it this probably wouldn't have happened. At least it's only cosmetic and doesn't affect feel at all. Second, was a case of wiremanagement. The backplate caused the wire for the neck pickup to hit the volume pot, shorting the connection. At first i thought the wiring was loose, or that the neck pickup was simply broken, but it was just a matter of moving the wire a few millimeters. It's easy to point fingers a Gibson for bad QC, but I haven't had any issues with other Gibsons, so I assume this doesn't happen for every guitar.
