Wanted some budget kluson style tuners and did lots of googling to find some- these are the cheapest I found and actually really good quality. Very pleased with them- they are smooth and so far I can say hold tune well. Solid and dependable.
I bought these for a La Cabronita build using and import size neck. this meant that I had to do a lot of careful measuring to mack sure I had the correct size holes and also that the spacing between the holes would mean that the tuners would sit in a line properly when they are finally installed. Once you have done this, and if the numbers match up then these are a great low cost alternative to the bigger brands.
its worth noting that the buttons on these are metal coated plastic, this does not make any difference to the performance but if your are planning on ageing or reliving them using any of the chemical techniques then you need to the buttons separately and VERY lightly.
I found these tuners to be stable and perfectly usable, if your are using string gauges higher than 10 then I would consider a higher gear ratio but thats just common sense.
Daughter got a vintage Japanese electric with some dodgy tuners. I swapped them for these and it stays in tune now. So as far as doing what they're supposed to, yes they do. Great job again, Thomann.
