I will argue that this instrument is perfect for anyone getting into bass playing. It's lightweight and smaller compared to say; a Jazz bass. Super accessible even at the higher frets. Super skinny neck, which is awesome for anyone who hasn't yet developed enough stretching and handmuscles (or just smaller hands). And at any of the 3 preamp settings, you will be able to find a setting that works for you, depending of your chosen style. Let me just say that I have played Funk, rock and metal on this instrument, and it holds up. And yes you can definently use it for live gigs as well.
