Rottenburgh Soprano Recorder

Like the violin, the classical recorder also dates from the Baroque period. The cultural centres of that period were Paris, London, Amsterdam, Nuremberg and Brussels. The renowned recorder maker Friedrich von Huene has examined almost all remaining original instruments from this period, which are being held in museums. From the sum of his data, the Moeck Rottenburgh baroque recorders in the style of the instruments by the recorder maker Jean-Hyacinth-Joseph Rottenburgh were created.

Characterised by their brilliant pitch and modern tuning, today they are the most frequently played Baroque solo recorders available, which have proven themselves to be an especially reliable instrument.

A great-sounding recorder
Bobby47 30.03.2024
I've played quite a few soprano recorders. This one and my Mollenhauer modern soprano, are my favorites. The most outstanding feature of this Moeck is the great Baroque recorder sound. It is easy to play, except one must get exactly the right thumb position in order to play high A.
Also, this recorder is very attractive in appearance, and of very high quality for the reasonable price.

Very nice sound

The break in period took a bit longer than my other woods, but the sound is very good. It's a quite flexible instrument with a refined sound. I like the whole feeling while playing it.
The only drawback has to do with the appearance. After only few weeks the color of the beak around the windway started fading out.

Bought this as my first wooden soprano to use for diploma and conservatoire studies. Lovely sound, found the palisander is brighter and clearer than the boxwood but with a more flexible tone than the olive - perfect balance for me.
