E609 is more beefy than SM57
E609 and its big brother E906 is well known alternatives to SM57. In my opinion it is more thick sounding than the SM57, which can be a "hiss" sounding mic. The E609 is a very good and rich sounding mic and reflect the original sound in great maner.
I will definitely recommend this and I personally use this instead of SM57 when playing live.
