I plan to put a solderless emg 81 in it and it will sound great. the pickup lacks style and bass but for a chap guitar it is ok, although as a first guitar I think the kid might be disappointed with sharp fret ends, buzzing and a lack lustre pickup. the classic vibe 50s tele was absolutely amazing and didn't need any changes but it was 200 euros more, worth it though...
