The speaker is very good for it's price. I am purely speaking as a hobbyist and not someone who uses these in profesional circumstances but I still like to think that i have a little bit of knowledge about speakers and audio. Now for the sound: It has a surprising amount of "low" bass and somewhat nice highs, although they can be a little sharp once you go past a certain level. The mids are very pronounced but that is to be expected from pa-speakers. I would say it has a boomy bass profile where there is emphasis on the 50-60Hz region but it still with a bit of noticeable low end, which is really surprising on account of it's small size.
Unfortunately, the amplifier has a bit of noise-floor that mainly comes from the tweeter. It is noticeable when playing at low volumes but isn't noticeable once you turn it up a little bit. The amp also has a weird quirk where there is almost no treble at low volumes but then "turns on" once you go past a certain limit, so on low volumes it sounds muddy unless you turn up the treble on the back.
I haven't really been able to test the battery-life but so far it seems good and credit for making it so easy to swap out with a new one.
The cabinet also feels pretty sturdy, being made from some kind of hard plastic and definitely feels like it can handle some abuse. The bluetooth function works really well and is extremely fast at automatically connecting to your device.
So in short, for the amount you pay you get a really nice and pretty loud speaker that will suit most people's needs. It will blow the socks off almost all other consumer speakers and probably still be cheaper than "comparable" products. Good job Thomann/The Box!
