I have a number of regular tall boom K&M & Beyerdynamic stands and indended this for use in a small bedroom where floor space is limited (and for cosmetic reasons over a black finish).
The round base helps with the small footprint, and while it could be heavier and slightly wider, does the job fine as it with a short boom in matching grey. The finish is very good quality. The height adjustment grip is really comfortable and ergonomic, my favourite part of the stand. The stand work well with light mics but it is also remarkably stable (with the short boom arm) with heavy mics like the SE Gemini II whish posed no problem.
Overall it does the job just as intended and is a pleasure in use.
I only really buy these stands for the bases and never use the upright sections so have no feedback on the whole stand but it seems to K&M's normal quality.
I use the bases with Schoeps mics/RC extension tubes as the grey Nextel finish is a perfect match for the Schoeps kit and, in certain close up settings and decors, can look a bit smarter than the usual black bases. I have about grey 20 bases, all of which are Nextel coated, matching the Schoeps finish but the two bases I just added seem to be finished in some kind of rough textured powder coat. The uprights are still Nextel coated and the colour match to the Nextel grey is fine. They're also still a very matte finish but they're definitely different - much rougher (or maybe the Nextel coating process had an issue with these).
I'll wait to see whether these age/wear differently from the Nextel versions (which do become gradually slightly darker with age and use).
Before I bought this one I had a cheap one. It broke after a couple of rehearsals. I wanted a heavy and sturdy one. And this is heavy! Very sturdy and can really take a beat on a wild gig. The foot is solid and heavy. Very great microphone stand for the singer that doesn't play any instrument and likes to jump around.
