There's something nice about gently putting a foot on the base and gently pulling up on the stand. Height adjusts accordingly. Not designed to be leaned on as it will lower but it's great otherwise - and let's face it, people shouldn't be leaning on this kind of stand!

Costly, but quality made, looks and feels great when moved around (I also bought floor protectors for its feet). I use it to hold my partitions and my tablet when practicing on my guitars.
