The 3 cups are super easy to solder even with a cheap soldering iron and they keep the conductors well separated. I wish TRS connectors had a similar 3-cup layout on the inside.
Be careful not to leave extra solder on the outer sides of cups 1 and 2 otherwise the chuck might be pushing against them. Heat the cups from the bottom instead if you use solder on the tip to improve heat contact.
The boot does take some pushing to get onto a 7.6mm diameter cable but not impossible. There's a larger compatible boot and chuck Neutrik BXX-14 (available separately, only in black) the boot of which goes on easier while still holding well but for the chuck I prefer the narrower one included with this connector as that protects better against accidental pulling forces. The chuck included does not cover cup 3 though unlike the larger chuck BXX-14.
Sturdy and well designed. Special edition makes it extra nice.

I have been using Neutrik connectors with Sommer cables and never have to worry about lose connections. Great quality connector and the key is in the details. Very easy to solder and assemble. The 70 year special edition is in Thomann theme color boot and is at 12% discount compared to the regular NC3 FXX-B.
If its your first time making your own cables, then I recommend downloading the Assembly instructions from Neutrik and also refer to Sound_System_Interconnection pdf from Rane.
The external part is aluminium and is different compared to the traditional Neutrik connector. This external part shields only from RF field but not shield the 50/60Hz magnetic fields. Avoid this connector if you want to use with 3 active wires + shielding cables! The black painting of the aluminium enclosure prevent the electrical contact.
