Prodipe GL21 Lanen

I needed a portable mic for both gigs and recordings while travelling. I bought this one.
It looks nice and has a convenient and practical bag and it comes with two soundhole mic holders. Quickly tried the mic by itself and it works.
BUT when I tried to install it on my guitar when I really needed it I had two major issues: I just pushed the mic into the first of the two holders as shown in the instructions and the holder broke right away (veeery delicate). The mic would still stay in the holder though, since only a little piece was missing, so I went on and started recording... A whole lot of noise and vibrations, on specific frequencies, made it unusable.
I then thought that could be because of the slightly broken holder, so I tried the other one, but same story. Basically, if I want to use it, I will have to sort out another way of placing it on my guitar.
In the end, this was my worst purchase ever

Sound wise it is great.
The mini-XLR to XLR adapter is made of metal and the microphone casing seems to be metal as well.

Provides a much more natural sound than a piezo pickup on a classic acoustic guitar. Noise levels seem to be okay, although I've tested it in a place with some background noise, making it hard to distinguish from any noise added by the microphone.

The only complain I have for it is the support for the guitar, it doesn't add noises and secures the microphone well, but the plastic clamps are really tight, I ended up breaking one as it wasn't perfectly aligned with the microphone casing when I tried to connect them, so be careful when putting it together as you need to do what seems to be unreasonable force.

I bought this 4 months ago and have used it in the studio (audio for video) and on stage, and tested it for PA suitability. The important bit: This mic works really well - I prefer it on guitar to a DPA 4099. Despite being off-axis and very close to the soundboard, it reproduces acoustic and resonator guitars really well and rejects feedback effectively, especially if paired with a good piezo. BUT - the first time I assembled it the holder snapped. Instead of returning it, I asked Thomann for a bag of replacement holders. 3 months later I was sent 2. The first new one snapped the second time I touched it!

Obviously, for the price, I wasn't expecting something with the build-quality of DPA, but this small deficiency is a real shame. The actual mic seems to be robust (metal casing) and the cable seems fine. The simple but effective holder made of steel sheet that grips on to the instrument works surprisingly well and never gets in the way. The tiny mic holder that screws in to this is made of brittle plastic and breaks if you look at it. If they made this from a more durable material and charged 3 euros more for the product, I'd give it 4 stars instead of 3.
The cable plugs in to a sturdy metal XLR adapter with a high-pass filter switch. Here the only issue is that the metal belt-clip is too tight, and if you force it, it jumps off.
Both deficiencies can be fixed with cable ties and some imagination, yielding a very useful and affordable product.
