Rockbag RB 20624B Bass Guitar Bag

I bought this gigbag after much thought and comparisons to other, similar products. I bought it specifically for my Jackson David Ellefson Signature Kelly Bird V 5 string bass because for some strange reason, Jackson does not make an original case for it's X Series Kelly Bird basses. Because of the Kelly Bird's protruding lower horn, this bass will not fit in form-fit hardshell cases meant specifically for a Thunderbird-type body, or in most of the aftermarket "universal fit" hardshell cases readily available. As I want as much protection as possible for my instruments, I looked around for the highest-quality gigbag I could find that would accept the Kelly Bird bass body and Jackson angled headstock and found the Rockbag RB 20624B gigbag. I ordered it and was not disappointed when it arrived - I was able to fit my Kelly Bird bass into it nicely and I could see and feel that the gigbag is a well-thought out, well-made and robust product...Once the bass is safely strapped in (a great feature - the neck below the headstock can be immobilized onto a thick pillow with a velcro strap, eliminating movement inside the gigbag) and zipped up on the inside, there are a couple of external storage pockets with room for an effect pedal or two, cords and the like. It looks as though it could be/might be water resistant to some degree but I can't say for sure. In any case, this gigbag will easily protect whatever is put into it and is perfect for regular storage at home and for adequate protection during "normal" situations of transport. While nothing can beat the protection of a hardshell or flight case, a Rockbag at this level of quality is, in my humble opinion, one of the best alternatives for your bass (or guitar) if no case is available to you. I would (and will likely) buy another one of these gigbags in the future without hesitation.

Ich habe mir diesen Gigbag zugelegt, weil ich mir einen Epiphone Thunderbird Pro gekauft habe. Da dieser Bass ein Monstrum ist, passt er in keine normale Tasche, und dieser Gigbag stellt die meines Wissens einzige Transportlösung dar.

Der Bag wirkt wirklich gut und stabil verarbeitet. Wen man ihn ansieht und in die Hand nimmt, hat man das Gefühl, etwas wirklich Stabiles und für die Ewigkeit konzipiertes zu besitzen. Das Gewebe ist wasserdicht, was ideal ist für Fahrrad-Transporte bei schlechtem Wetter. Die Reissverschlüsse gehen gut und klemmen nicht.

Das Innenleben überzeugt ebenfalls, die Polsterung ist sehr dick und ich habe keine Angst, dass mein Bass darin einen Kratzer abbekommen könnte.

Allerdings hätte ich mir mehr/grössere Taschen gewünscht, da ich gerne unzählige Dinge im Gigbag unterbringe. In meinem anderen Gigbag finden beispielweise neben dem Bass noch eine grosse A4-Notenmappe, ein 5m-Kabel, Stimmgerät, Ersatzsaiten, Schraubendreher und eine Zange Platz, was hier problematisch ist.
Ausserdem ist die Grösse des Bags für meinen Thunderbird recht knapp bemessen, man muss schon beinahe würgen, um den Reissverschluss zu schliessen.
Es ist nicht möglich, einen normalen, kleineren Bass darin vernünftig zu transportieren (z.B. meinen Ibanez GSR 200).

Fazit: Stabil und untötbar, aber beinahe zu klein für den Thunderbird, auch wenn er eigentlich genau dafür gedacht ist.
