Excellent and super easy to use replacement for those irritating wingnuts on cymbal stands which always seem to undo themselves and can be fiddly when setting up or breaking down the kit in a hurry.
The clamp uses an internal spring to hold it in position wherever you want to place it on the cymbal mounting nut, to give the exact amount of cymbal swing you want.
Price is ok, but the look and feel of the plastic is cheaper than I was expecting from someone like Sonor (hence the mark down to 4 stars for quality), and perhaps not as nice looking "in the flesh" as the Tama alternatives.
It's been a while I am using these holders and they do the job very well: just place the cymbal, press the button and secure it on your stand; reverse the process for releasing quickly your cymbals. Done!
It is really useful for the every-day drummer life, when rehearsing, gigging or just a "nice to have" accessory in your stick bag when you need a quick cymbal exchange.
I personally like the round shape because it fits perfectly most of the china cymbals if you play it upside-down with the bell reversed.
Highly recommended!
The spring in this is on the loose side, so it doesn't grip very tight. That's why the clamp starts to spin quite easily and begins to loosen. I like my quick release clamps to grip tight, so they stay 100 % in place. I ended up returning these. Also, I personally don't like the purple colour.
Sonor had an earlier version with a stiffer spring and in black which was perfect, put this is not a good product for me.
