Focusrite Scarlett 16i16 4th Gen

Upgraded from a scarlet 4i4 since I needed more ins and outs. The device is pretty much plug‘n play. The setup and softwareinstallation on a windows based pc is straight forward. The software routing options are giving suficient choices for mixes.
The soundquality is looking for equal among the competitors in this pricerange due to the used high wuality ad and da converters.
The integration in protools and abketon is seamless and the latency is negligable as long as the proper drivers are chosen.
Overall a top product in its pricerange.

I decided to upgrade to the Focusrite Scarlett 16i16 4th Gen after spending a significant amount of time working with an older Scarlett interface. That experience shaped my trust in Focusrite, especially in terms of reliability and clean sound.

The 16i16 offers a noticeable improvement in headroom and clarity, and the preamps sound very clean even at higher gain levels. The latency performance is also excellent, which is important for composing and recording in real time. The routing options in Focusrite Control provide a lot of flexibility, especially when working on more complex projects.

As a student at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, currently focusing on composing music for film, having reliable equipment is essential. I chose the 16i16 because it offers the flexibility I need as my projects become more demanding, while still being within a realistic budget.

This upgrade represents more than just a new piece of gear — it feels like a step forward in building a long-term creative workspace.

Ich hatte bereits Jahre zuvor ein Focusrite Interface, das 18i8 der ersten Generation. Generell zufrieden damit, hatte ich doch das ein oder andere Problem. Kaputtes externes Netzteil, und dann vor wenigen Jahren Totalausfall. Trotz vermeintlich funktionierendem Netzteil beim Einschalten nur ein kurzes Aufblinken der LEDs.
Deshalb vorübergehend ein Steinberg UR44C zugelegt, mit dem Wissen, dass mir final die Eingänge nicht ausreichen werden.
Deshalb nun nach 4 Jahren neue Überlegungen. Meine Anforderungen: Mind. 3x2 Stereo-Eingänge für meine Keys + mind. 1 Eingang für Gitarre/Bass plus einen für Mikro.
Kurzerhand entschied ich mich für diese Variante inkl. einem Behringer ADA8200 um auf insgesamt zumindest mehr als 6 Line-In Eingänge zu kommen plus Mic/Gitarre/Bass.
Erster Eindruck: Sehr gut. Während ich früher so manche Probleme mit Brummen hatte, in dieser Kombi gar nichts. ADAT (manche belächeln es) sehr gut. Mit den bekannten Einschränkungen.
Software: wunderbar schöne Lösung. Inkl. iPhone/iPad App.

Tatsächlich habe ich mit dem neuen 18i16 (4th Gen) geliebäugelt, da ich ja selbiges in der ersten Generation hatte. Aber der Aufpreis von mehr als 150 Euro für 2 additive Mic-Eingänge? Vll. habe ich was übersehen .. aber mit dem Behringer ADA8200 habe ich zumindest bis auf weiteres keine Engpässe mehr bzgl. der Eingänge ..

Fazit eines Home-Studio Users: Absolut empfehlenswert. Preis/Leistung ideal.
