Worth spending the extra for these racks
MrSubterfuge 29.04.2025
I needed a rack which could contain a few 1U units, a patch panel, and a 2U amplifier. Previously I've used Thon Eco racks, but the 'Live' series is significantly better. For example this 45cm depth rack costs around 71% more than its Eco sibling at the time of writing, and here are the reasons I would suggest it is worth paying the extra.

1. Rear rack rails! If you want to fit a patch panel or even put two short units back-to-back in the same 1U space, now you can.
2. Rack nuts don't slide on the rails. In the cheaper models with movable rack nuts, the nuts are free to slide up and down under gravity – very annoying if you need to swap out an amp with a system set up for instance. In the Live model there is a rubber strip pressing against the back of the nuts that means you can still move them, but it requires some force.
3. Much nicer latches. These are spring loaded butterfly latches. More secure than drawbolt.
4. Proper ball corners! On cheaper racks, the ball corners do not extend beyond the height of things like latches and handles. This means if you need to place the box on its side, you cannot do so on a handle side as it won't sit level.

All these are just small things that really add up to a much more usable and quality rack case.
